kanvas at FuturaCanvas Seoul

For the invitation of FuturaCanvas#0 kanvas participated the inaugural Global Art & Tech Event held between September 5-7, 2024 in Seoul, during the period of Frieze Seoul and Korea Blockchain Week.

The main goal of FuturaCanvas is to put people at the centre, create new connections and pioneer in the field of art and technology by shifting the sole focus from technology as a driving force to a connection between people by defining the role of humans in the future in different ways. Nothing describes it better than the main theme of the event „Hand-in-Hand: Human Hyper-Node” reflecting that each of us becomes eventually a „Human Hyper-Node”, the ultimate humane participant in our network.

As part of the Day 2 programme titled „Hacking Algorithms”, kanvas co-founder  Balint Tordai presented online the mission and vision of our immersive art incubator space in Dubai, which aims to bring people closer to art by fusing cutting-edge technology with digital and contemporary art. The multi-sensory experiences, developed by kanvas in collaboration with its global artist community, immerse visitors in an environment created through ground-breaking digital art installations and interactive multimedia experiences.

In addition, two members of kanvas’ artist community also introduced their projects born in collaboration with kanvas. Susan Kosti, the Sydney-based international multimedia artist and art director talked about ‘What Lies Beneath’, the data visualisation project that translates ocean data collected by NASA between 2003 and 2023 into a stunning kaleidoscope of vibrant sea creatures to reflect the dynamic behaviour of our planet’s aquatic ecosystem.

Evgenija Romanidi, art director and curator, founder of the digital artist collective, Project22 guided the audience through the steps of composing the digital immersive exhibition “The Code” from finding the theme to selecting artists and artworks that fit it the best until creating an exceptional immersive shell for them.

The first edition of FuturaCanvas has undoubtedly offered a great opportunity for the audience to meet new approaches in the field of immersive and digital art.
