The Brief

Bringing immersive digital art into the public realm

kanvas has been invited to participate in the 20th edition of DIFC Art Nights, one of Dubai’s most established cultural events, and to expand immersive digital art into the wider public environment of DIFC Gate Village.

The Concept

The immersive heart of the festival

Aligned with the festival’s theme “Re:Connect”, the pop-up kanvas hub combined immersive projections, light art installations, artist talks, and interactive workshops encouraging audiences to engage with art in new ways. The installations served both as exhibition spaces and social meeting points, encouraging visitors to move between observing, learning, and participating.

The Experience

A focal point for immersive creativity within the festival

Activation 1: Pop-Up Immersive Room & Light Art Pavilion

  • A compact yet fully immersive “mini-kanvas” projection environment showcasing digital works by artists from the kanvas Artist Collective (Rank SSS, Kati Katona, Kristel Bechara, Susan Kosti, Andras Nagy)
  • Two light art installations by Dániel Besnyo created a distinctive visual landmark within the festival environment.
  • The immersive pavilion also served as the main stage for several festival highlights – media reception, VIP immersive dinner, artist talk program.
  • This multifunctional space blended exhibition, conversation, and social interaction within a digital immersive environment.

Activation 2: ‘Art in Light’ Workshop

  • A dedicated creative workshop space designed primarily for children and young visitors.
  • Participants explored colour, shape, and light-based digital art tools through guided creative exercises.
  • The workshop encouraged experimentation, imagination, and early engagement with creative technology.

The Impact

  • The kanvas activations became one of the most visited and visually distinctive elements of the Bluewaters Art Festival and strongly contributed to the success of the festival first edition.
  • Visitors experienced immersive digital art in a public, accessible cultural setting.
  • The combination of exhibitions, talks, and workshops created a multi-generational cultural experience.
  • kanvas helped establish the festival as a forward-looking platform celebrating the intersection of art, technology, and community engagement.
