About the project

Inspired by centuries-old geometric traditions, the immersive and interactive eexhibition by interdisciplinary artist and academic, Selcuk Artut transforms classical ornamentation into dynamic, digital art. Visitors engage with over 24 different geometric ornaments sourced from around the world, the region, and the UAE, experiencing a continuous flow of patterns that unfold, dissolve, and recombine in an interactive environment. Guests are invited to select their preferred patterns, which are then projected in real time as large-scale immersive visuals, allowing them to actively shape and transform the space around them.

Presenting this work in Dubai situates it within a vibrant landscape of architectural innovation and cultural reinvention. The UAE is a nation where steel forests rise from desert sands, where intricate patterns perforate skyscraper façades, and where cultural memory is continuously reimagined. Dubai reflects this dynamic interplay: migration mirrors the historical flows of geometry; architectural innovation embodies the logic of patterns; and cultural hybridity connects transregional design histories.

The exhibition highlights this contemporary continuity through references such as Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi where tessellated façades function as climatic technology, dynamically regulating light, and the Mosque of Mohamed Abdulkhaliq Gargash in Dubai, where modern worship spaces preserve the spiritual discipline of geometric abstraction. Through these, Infinite Patterns proposes that geometry is not a relic but a living, migratory practice – a continuum bridging tradition and innovation.

Selçuk Artut, an academic and creative coder holding a Ph.D. in Media and Communications, will lead a public lecture titled From Sacred Geometry to Generative Code: Bridging Tradition and Technological Innovation on Saturday, 7 February 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This will be followed by a hands-on workshop, named Generating Geometric Patterns with Creative Coding from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, offering participants practical experience in blending traditional geometry with modern digital tools.
